Hey guys, So this is my characteristics of my BEST FRIEND! Yes we all have many best friends and we like calling them Mains/Ride or Die/Soul sister/brother etc. But this girl is like a real soul sister to me. I've known her for the past 5 years. She's been by my side 24/7 she will always be there to cheer me up even though we have a lot of our Up & Downs. She may make me sad or cry but at the end of the day we will always be by each others side. She is really special to me and no matter what I will always have her back cause she's my partner in crime and her name is Devine.

Faith - A College Task about Values...by Willy

Hi, there. My name is Willy and today I’ll talk about a value that then became a deep one for my thoughts and personality, that is now a great value! One value that I have that I am glad to have is...faith. This means that I have full trust in something or someone who I would believe will do something good later on. This value that I chose is important to me because having faith in something that you think will turn out good will result in you gaining the feeling of trust, knowing that when you trust in something/someone for something else, you will definitely take hold on that trust. I, personally, think that values such as having faith can boost your personality and help your life in school, home, and in the community. I bet I use this value quite often, actually. Sometimes, when a friend says they’ll help online later on, I can trust them, and also, when they say they’ll complete their work, I can trust them! I have absolute faith in them! And when an event comes into mind, I can have faith that it doesn’t get interrupted by any sort of interruption. This value, to me, was from many people I’ve encountered so far, including teachers, family members (especially parents), and friends...why? Because of them, I have faith in them to give me faith!

That’s all I need to say about faith.

This is my Kia manawanui characteristic tree. This represents me and how I learn inside and out of school and also in school. In the white writing I have wrote a quote and my quote says "It's not what you have in your pocket that makes you thankful it's what you have in your heart."

Kia Manawanui - Be Big Hearted

Unpacking the words 'Kia Manawanui' (which means Be Big Hearted) was the main focus of the day. This whole week we have been focusing on making connections with others our the syndicate. A significant way of doing this was through a variety of group work and collaboration.

What does Kia Manawanui mean?

1. We started by working in groups and we were given 2 words - 'Big Hearted'. We were required to think of synonyms/key words and phrases related to this concept. What does Big Hearted mean to men?
2. We presented our group ideas to the class. 

These are all the words that we came up with as a class - words that mean Kia Manawanui. 

4. We then had to choose a key word - one that we think sums up Kia Manawanui - and design a symbol that represents this word. 

5. We presented our symbol for to the class before displaying it up on the wall. 

This is only our draft copy which is displayed in our school hall. We will be working on completing our good copy in the weeks ahead for our new classroom environment. 

Start of Term 1 - 2015 is going to be a Supreme Year!

Tuesday 27th January 2015

Today was the first day back at school and we are ready to get back into learning. The day started with our lovely teachers introducing themselves and the students meeting new friends in their class for 2015.

We are excited that things for the Year 7 and 8 students are going to be done differently this year. We now have syndicate names - our syndicate name is called Kia Manawanui which means 'Be Big Hearted'. We will be learning more about the meaning of our syndicate name in the weeks ahead.

Another change for 2015 is our classroom environment. At the moment our class is situated in school hall as our new modern learning environment is yet to be completed. There are lots of builders around the school working hard to build our new classroom which we hope to be in by the end of Week 3. We look forward to knowing more about learning in a modern learning environment this term and we will be excited to share our learning experiences in this new classroom throughout the year.

Throughout the day we lots of fun team building activities where we got to know about our peers in the class and develop positive relationships.

We look forward to a new year of adventures, learning and inspirations - 2015 is going to be a supreme year.
