Kiwisport - Term 4 - by Akih

Flag Football - KiwiSport!
Today in Kia Manawanui Syndicate we finally have kiwi sport!
This is the first time we have kiwi sport for Term 4. For our kiwi sport we had flag football, what I could say is that, rugby and flag football is the sameWe walked into the field where 2 coaches were, their names were Coach Will and Coach Carl. So we had to be in a circle and they taught us how to jog then jump which is called chopping on the spot, so what u have to do is when they call out? (I forgot) u have to jump then jug again as fast as u can, for me I think that was like our team chant or something which is I don't know..

After that they teaches us how to hold the ball, how to catch and throw, before they teaches us, the girls and boys has to be splited up in half, then three girls has to line up in one of the cone and same for the boys but it has to be four boys in one cone unlike the girls it's three because it was an even number, the girls was in the right side and the boys was in the left side. Also I forgot to mention that both sides had one coach, so in the girls group we had Coach Will and in the boys group they had Coach Carl. So one person has to be a the front and 2 person has to be at back which is Edith and Coralee, and so the team. After that two coaches started to teach us how to hold the ball, how to catch and throw.

First they taught us how to throw the ball and hold the ball. For me it was very challenging because how the bottom of the ball or the point has to face the front to have a good and high throw, for me it was very challenging but as I tried and tried I started to find it easy and the coaches also helped us by looking how we throw. For a couple of while it started to rain at first we ignored but then it started to rain more and more so that's when we headed inside the hall. The coaches we're worried because of how small the space but they solved it out. So we continued learning how to throw the ball and hold the ball.

About 5 minutes or 6 minutes later we we're learning how to catch the ball, I found it more challenging but I tried my best. Me and Edith swapped places because she saw having difficulties to learn catching the ball and she was a good mate, so we continued. I saw another girl team and they we're really good at catching, throwing and holding the ball, I was very impressed by how they show teamwork. What I could say about my group is that we all tried our best and we didn't complain about how we throw, catch or hold the ball.

What I loved about playing the game is that they where no out's and u can throw the ball as how u throw to be. One of the coaches saw that it wasn't raining outside so played the game outside but only 2 rounds of game, then the rain has come back again, so we have to be at the hall again. Also the coaches had to even the teams and playing the game was like netball because when u have the ball u can't run or walk u have to throw to someone. What I found difficult playing the game is my height because I'm short and lots of my classmates are tall and fast but my friend cheered me up, so I cheered myself up.

That's all and if you wan't check Edith and Faa'fiu blog post (CLICK HERE - Coralee)

Kiwisport Boxing by Akih

WALT: know how to punch for boxing.
Today's topic is about...
-KiwiSport (BOXING)-
Image result for Boxing learning
So today I'm gonna be blogging about Kiwi sport. So in term 3 we have our kiwi sport and this time it's boxing, so for the past 6 weeks or 9 weeks we have boxing for kiwi sport. So last week for kiwi sport I wasn't in school but this week I was at school! I get to blog about kiwi sport, but I blogged the kiwi sport reflection late (πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…).

So we first split up into 2 groups, those 2 groups was Mrs. Komor's & Mrs. Aireen's. For me I was in the group of Mrs. Aireen and I was with my 2 best friends which is Fa'afiu & Carra. When I first came in the hall I saw our teacher for boxing and her name is Mrs. Pat, She looks like an Indian person to me and she's really good at English. Before we did some boxing lesson she thought as what's the 3 rules/commandments:

1.) I will have respect for myself, my coach, my peers and the sport of boxing the.
2.) I will have discipline myself and turn up to every boxing sessions and give my 100%.
3.) I will not cause harm to others and only practicing boxing in a safe environment under the guidance of a coach.

When we learnt our 3 rules/commandments we have to partner up with someone in the hall,so I partner up with Fa'afiu. After that there was 3 columns, the 3 columns was it depends of how tall u are or short u are.

So the first one was the red column and it's for the shorter people.
The blue column was for the medium shortest people.
The last one is for the tallest people which is the black colour.

(I forgotted) we also play a game called knee tag and that's when u try to tag some one with their knee, if you tagged them they have to do 1 bur-pee.  After the game all of us has to make a line which is front and the back ,Their has to be an equal person in each line. So I was at the very last end and I was facing Hevani.

So the steps for boxing is you have to bend down then you put your 2 arms in-front of your face to protect your face, If you did that then that's great! Next is Mrs. Pat & Aireen will test everyone in the hall if your 2 arms are strong enough, if it's strong enough then they will say yes. For me they say yes and at first I was scared because I was short and weak, Mrs. Pat can just push me easily. Anyways after that we have to bend down and one arm will protect the face and the other arm will do the punch, while punching u also have to twist your knee. So you have practice and if you got it u face the back of u then try it with them. So for me I face Hevani and by the way Hevani was the same Height as me so I don't have to worry.  One person has to do the Hi-5 and the other will do the combo punch, then if Mrs. Pat says swap then we swap.

Basically that's it but where still not finish, we still haven't talked about what I found challenging, didn't found challenging & what I need to work on next time.

What I found challenging was to punch hard and to find a person that's the same height as me because I was one of the shortest people in my class-room.  What I didn't found challenging was to buddy up with someone in my classroom and she was just right beside me.  What I need to work on next time is to get even more strong and practice boxing at home when I have my spare time.

Questions for u my readers:

IALT: Reflect about our Kiwisport Lesson!

Kia Orana and greetings to you all...
WELCOME BACK TO MY BLOG!

As you can ALL tell by my title, our Kiwisport for Term 3 is BOXING! I think last year, we had boxing lessons but they were ONLY for year 7 or 8's, if you wanted to join, you can sign up, because it was a programme, not really a Kiwisport. But anyways, since our Kiwisport for this Term is BOXING, we have been learning a LOT about it!

As we arrived to the hall, we met up with our Coach/Instructor who is Pax. She will be the one who will teach us the skills in BOXING, but FIRST, we went over the 3 commandments which was Discipline - To turn up to EVERY boxing session and give 100%, Safety - I will NOT harm others, and ONLY practice in a safe environment with gear under the guidance of a coach, and Respect - Myself, Teacher, Others, and the Coach. Coach Pax said that those rules were VERY important because BOXING is obviously a sport where it includes hurting people but definitely NOT in training!

We learnt how to Jab and Cross. At first, the challenges I faced was trying to get into the CORRECT form where I would be able to Jab and Cross properly, sadly that didn't happen the first time but we all make mistakes so I was fine with it. As I kept doing it, I got use to it and it became FUN!

One thing I enjoyed was Knee Tag, the reason why was because it got pretty competitive with the people I was with but we still managed to do our best. I also partnered up with Demetrius and he said he was "Undefeated" until it took like a minute for me to tag his knee, then was pretty annoyed because he thought I cheap-shotted him, LOL!

Creative stories @ Te Tuhi by Cerenity

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

WALT: Write a reflection about our experience at Te Tuhi.

1. 3 things that I have learnt:
One thing that I learnt at Te Tuhi is that people can be inspired just by the things around them just like Gary Peter and he made an artwork that was inspired by a ventilation! This is his artwork!

Another thing that I learnt was that Shannon Te Ao (an Artist) went to where he lived and he took lots of pictures, added different sounds and made a video about where he came from.

And last of all, I learnt that Shannon Te Ao made a video about his ancestors, one of his ancestors was sick and she ended up in a relationship with a man that she loved so much.

2. Explain two ways you can take what you have learned to give back to our TPS community?:
Coming back to TPS, I brought back a positive mindset and a can do attitude!

3. Name one thing that you would have liked to spend more time on?:
One thing that I would like to have spent more time on was our Role play because people didn't really know there lines so we kind of just made it up as we went through it.

4. What was one thing Salome did that you liked?:
One thing Salome did that I liked was when she showed us Gary Peters artwork because it was very colourful and I liked that he got inspired just by this on little thing which was the Ventilation.

Here is a picture of my collage that I made!

Kiwisport & Softball Reflection by Cerenity

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!
Yesterday we got into our home groups  and one group did kiwisport and the other group did Softball. In kiwisport our sport that we are learning is tennis and I learnt about how to bat properly by using your forehand and backhand swings.

In Softball, I learnt how to catch the glove when being on one of the bases. This week we are having a Softball tournament and by playing Softball, it's helping me get better and better when I keep learning. One thing that I think I'm good at in Softball is being on base one where I can get people out quite easily if someone passes it to me properly.

Here are some pictures of what we did Yesterday!
