๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐ŸŒบSamoan Language Week๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ธ at TPS

Image result for samoan language week 2019Talofa Lava and greetings to you all! As it says in the title, it is Samoan Language Week! YAY! When we celebrate any culture at our school it usually includes each class preparing an item for a special assembly that is held after a week of embracing the cultural differences and identities.

In this case, Samaon Language Week. For Samoan Language Week, Room 9/10 have prepared two items. The first item which is a Siva Samoa will be done by the room 9/10 girls while the room 9/10 boys will be showing the Samoan haka.

The song that we will be dancing to is called "Loimata o le fia fia"  we've been practicing this Siva Samao since last week Wednesday, I think that the girls have prepared well and everything is going great. I would say the same as for the boys. Here is the version of the haka that they have been practising. Enjoy the rest of the week, Samoan Language Week!!

T.E.A.M

We kick started the year by building our class culture that focuses on strengthening the school values and the key competencies. Some students in the Kia Manawanui syndicate put together a chant called T.E.A.M which helped us show the school values and the key competencies at Camp Raglan in Term 2. No only has this chant helped us show T.E.A.M at camp but it has also helped continue to build a positive class culture throughout the year.

How our T.E.A.M chant was created
Two weeks before camp we were required to work as a group to put together a chant that included a positive message about working as a team. All groups enjoyed working together as they put their group chant together. After showing our chants to our class we then voted for the best group chant as a syndicate. Once we agreed we all started learning the chant together which helped us get into the spirit of participating and contribiting as a TEAM which also helped us prepare for camp.

T.E.A.M means:

Here are the words of our chosen chant - T.E.A.M

Before we went to camp we recorded our syndicate chant about T.E.A.M with our music specialist, Mr Caleb. We decided as a syndicate that our camp chant will be made into a movie for this year's Manaiakalani Film Festival. Press Play to watch our syndicate chant about T.E.A.M.
