For todays blog I will be blogging about what we have been reading throughout this week. This week my group and I have been reading holes, by Louis Sachar. If you are familiar with this book then you might understand what I am talking about, but if you haven't I recommend you to read it, it is so gooooddd! Not only that but you can watch it on screen( but I would prefer reading the book because it is more exciting).

This is not my first time reading holes, so I kind of remember what happened in the story. All that I need to add is to look for different perspectives for our Solo Study.

Here is my summary:

I hope you enjoy this blogpost!

🐦🐓NZ scientist discover a giant extinct parrot🐦🐓 by Auckland

I found this really interesting article while doing my current events independent task.  The next part of our inquiry is about evolution and this article would be a great segue into our group conference.

The bird is believed to have stood up to one metre tall and to have had a massive beak capable of cracking open most food sources.
The parrot has been named “Heracles inexpectatus”.Researchers say the parrot was found in fossils dating back 19 million years.
The fossils were found near St Bathans in Central Otago, an area renowned for turning up evidence of ancient birds.
The fossil is around twice the size of a kākāpō, which until now was the largest known parrot.

The Life Process of Bacteria by Hamish

Hi Guys Its Me Hamish and i'm back to show you The Life Processes of Bacteria and all the other wacky and funky things that come with it! So sit back ,relax and get your reading glasses cos i'm going to show you the "World of Bacteria!"

Image result for bacteriaDid you know that every 20 seconds a new piece of bacteria forms In the world?  To do so it needs food like any other thing to grow, including oxygen , carbon dioxide and water. When these things run out,  the bacteria will start to die out that is why when you see cold, dark and damp places, there is normally a decent amount of bacteria like moss or other types.

Bacteria is also a living organism and is apart of  MRS GREN or the seven life processes. Bacteria displays a wide diversity of shapes and sizes called morphologies.

Did you know that bacteria cells are about one tenth the size of eukaryotic cells and are typically 0.5-5.0 Micrometers in length? However there are a few species you can see with the unaided eye for example, Thiomargarita  namibiensis is up to half a millimeter in length.

Bacteria cells exist as single cells but some like Streptococcus might form chains or other things like a bunch of grapes LOL Some even for body's that can go for 500 micrometers long and containing about 100,000 cells. In these body each piece of Bacteria has a certain job for example some might migrate to the fruity top to differentiate into a specialised dormant  state called a myxospore.

Bacteria often attaches to surface and forms dense aggregation called biofilms and larger formations are called microbial mats.

🎸🎸‘Old Town Road’ breaks music records🎸🎸 by Timote

As part of a follow-up activity, I decided to do a reflection/summary about an article that I had read. The article was about Country Rap Old Town.
Did you know that the song by Lil Nas X’s has become the longest-standing #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in the chart’s 60-year history?
The catchy track features country legends like Billy Ray Cyrus and has spent an unprecedented 17 weeks at the top. For those of you who don't know who Billy Ray is.............does the name Miley Cyrus ring a bell?

Originally the song emerged on social media platform TikTok late 2018, where it became the background music to some memes.
From there, the song made its way up the Billboard Hot Country Songs, reaching number 19. However, it was then booted off for not being country enough, sparking a worldwide debate about genre. Crazy right? People and perspectives or flavour of the month?
After losing its place on the country chart, Billy Ray came to the song’s rescue. He went to the studio and recorded a verse for a remixed version that catapulted to the top of the Hot 100 charts.
‘Old Town Road’ has since topped singles charts worldwide including reaching #1 in New Zealand.

I really hope that you learned something new and enjoyed my post. I would appreciate any feedback regarding to my post.

Cybersmarts Reflection by Stephney

Yesterday we had Cybersmarts with Miss Collins and I found it enjoyable and nerve racking. For cybersmarts, we had to present our presentations that we did and the presentation includes us doing doing a infographic about a Manaiakalani blogger. My infographic includes 3 ways to become a smart blogger. We also shared our criteria about our blogs and what we use for our criteria. In my criteria I added my private and public cybersmart work because it shows a template of what's public and what's private. Here is my presentation that I have created:

Here is my infographic that I have created and you cannot really see it on the screen so I'm putting it here on the bottom:

Cybersmart Advice by Coralee

Kia Ora everyone! Today for this blog I am going to be sharing with you how to have a healthy relationships online and some sentences starters that could help you leave a positive blog comment on people's blogs.

This task is how to have a positive relationship online while being cybersmart at the same time! In the poster it tells you about how people can catfish you and about how they can also steal your identity! And last of all it talks about how to have a smart relationship with people who you haven't seen in your life, and how sometimes you can't trust them...

But it's not always like that, you can trust some people online because personally i've been friends with a person for almost 5 months and in that time I honestly really do trust her, she is amazing even though she might be a man with a voice changer BUT! Nevermind that I do trust them but not really with my private information because they might just steal my Identity. I hope you enjoy the poster.

The next post is all about Sentences Starters to how to comment a Thoughtful, Helpful and Positive comment. Because I am a year 8 I had to do 8 Sentences as the Year 7's had to do 7 but I wanted 3 Sentences Starters for the 3 Subjects, Here is my work!
