Health and Well Being Programme - Tai Chi and Kung Fu Reflection by Perenara
Today we had our first ever Tai Chi lesson with our instructor Mr Gordon. First he told us a little bit about him and that he has done different types of Tai Chi and Kung Fu and has black belts in most of them. He has also been in the army for a number of years but then he left and went back to martial arts. He also has a son and a daughter at his daughter's birth the doctor said that she may not live but now she is 24/25 years old and is a doctor she has also done martial arts her whole life. Half way through our lesson we all got into a circle he told us this was the sharing circle we had to tell him our names, one thing we like, one thing we dont like and a random act of kindness that we have done recently.
He taught us some moves to help defend ourselves and maybe others. He taught us the Tiger pushing mountain, Inform and Open gate. Tiger pushing mountain would help us to push over our opponent and if they hit us we can protect ourselves. At the beginning 0f all our classes we go in to this form so that he can tell us what we are doing through out that lesson. And the Open gate this one will help us to face our opponents and be ready at the same time weather they are at the front of us or at the back of us.
He also asked us to share a random act of kindess he gave us an example to make sure that we knew what he was talking about. To me a random act of kindness is when you use your initiative to do things without being told to do it and doing something that will be helpful and not something that would make everything worse or bad.
He has taught us a lot of things but he said that whatever I teach you here you take it with inside of school outside of and out in your community. By that I think he means use all those skills he taught us how to breathe properly and I think that was to try and calm us down and in the community we could use this when we are angry. And if for any reason you get to a point where you need to protect yourself to use those stances that he has taught us because they are all to do with protection.

In the Kia manawanui Class we have been learning about the Hauora and what could happen if we don't take care of one if the 4 things. It is like a car if a tyre is flat you will not go far until you take care of it.
Waka of Strength by Constance
WALT: Find what qualities represent ourselves
Kia Ora! and Malo!
I will now be blogging about my strengths.
What are strengths?
A strength is something that you are really good at. For e.g: I am good at communicating with others.
The challenging part of this task was, figuring out what my strengths are. Of course I have more then several strengths, but I needed to choose 2 strengths.

Creative stories @ Te Tuhi by Cerenity
Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!
WALT: Write a reflection about our experience at Te Tuhi.
1. 3 things that I have learnt:
One thing that I learnt at Te Tuhi is that people can be inspired just by the things around them just like Gary Peter and he made an artwork that was inspired by a ventilation! This is his artwork!
Another thing that I learnt was that Shannon Te Ao (an Artist) went to where he lived and he took lots of pictures, added different sounds and made a video about where he came from.
And last of all, I learnt that Shannon Te Ao made a video about his ancestors, one of his ancestors was sick and she ended up in a relationship with a man that she loved so much.
2. Explain two ways you can take what you have learned to give back to our TPS community?:
Coming back to TPS, I brought back a positive mindset and a can do attitude!
3. Name one thing that you would have liked to spend more time on?:
One thing that I would like to have spent more time on was our Role play because people didn't really know there lines so we kind of just made it up as we went through it.
4. What was one thing Salome did that you liked?:
One thing Salome did that I liked was when she showed us Gary Peters artwork because it was very colourful and I liked that he got inspired just by this on little thing which was the Ventilation.
Here is a picture of my collage that I made!

Kiwisport & Softball Reflection by Cerenity
Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!
Yesterday we got into our home groups and one group did kiwisport and the other group did Softball. In kiwisport our sport that we are learning is tennis and I learnt about how to bat properly by using your forehand and backhand swings.
In Softball, I learnt how to catch the glove when being on one of the bases. This week we are having a Softball tournament and by playing Softball, it's helping me get better and better when I keep learning. One thing that I think I'm good at in Softball is being on base one where I can get people out quite easily if someone passes it to me properly.
Here are some pictures of what we did Yesterday!
Thanks for reading and please comment on my blog!

Last week on Wednesday we had our frist lesson of self defence about protecting ourselves whenever we get abuse or hurt by somebody. We did this because how in New Zealand lots of women get abuse from
Women and this programme wants everybody to participate and learn how to defence there self when somebody is out to get them.In my reflection I have written down:
Women and this programme wants everybody to participate and learn how to defence there self when somebody is out to get them.In my reflection I have written down:
- What I enjoyed?
- What we did?
- What we learnt?
- What I have improved?
I enjoy doing this because how I got to learn some moves on how to defence myself.
What I found chanllenging was trying to shout when we had to do this type of move and we had to also scream like we were actually been hurt by someone.
Here is my reflection.

Kia Manawanui Bio Poems
One of our first tasks this year was to complete a bio poem about ourselves. This is a great task that helps us describe who we are, our likes and dislikes, fears and emotions. Look through our Google presentation below.
