Auckland Museum Trip by Mehi

Hey guys today me and my class Kia Manawanui went to the Auckland War Memorial Museum to explore different Myths and Legends(which is our Inquiry topic). It was so fun I learnt many new things for example some more myths from my own culture and even our Pacific cultures too. We even got to make and use things too. There was also a Mummy tomb feature that we got to look at but sadly not touch. I learnt so many things in that Mummy exhibit for example there was this vase called a Canopic Jar that ancient Egyptians used to put the Mummy's organs in(which is disgusting but back in the days people thought it was good because they thought that it would be needed in the afterlife). Back in the day Ancient Egyptians also put other things in the Mummy tombs for example tools, weapons, food and etc. They thought that all these things would be needed in the afterlife. The more wealthy you were the more things you'll have in your tomb. I also learnt that mostly only wealthy people were put into tombs while the poor people were just buried normal.  I also learnt other things but it's just too much that I can't explain it all.

Today was such a great experience(even though I've been there how many times)....
I think that you should also go to the Auckland Museum because it is such a great place to go to.

Day trip to the Museum

Today the Kia Manawanui senior syndicate went on an adventure to Auckland Museum. The sun was shining and the students were excited, a fantastic way to start Week 4!

We organised the trip to help our students investigate myths and legends as part of our inquiry unit this term.  We had two educator sessions; Te Ao Pasifika looking at the world through a Polynesian perspective, and Ancient Civilisations where the students became archaeologists and investigated artefacts from ancient Egypt, Greece, Italy and Scandinavia.

A few spare minutes were also used to check out the amazing and very moving war memorial monuments and galleries, still decorated with beautiful remembrance poppies.

We had some wonderful parent and teacher helpers on the day and the students had a full on entertaining and educational day!

Today I was showing what a positive relationship is and what a negative relationship is.

Lavinia's Best Friend

Hey guys, So this is my characteristics of my BEST FRIEND! Yes we all have many best friends and we like calling them Mains/Ride or Die/Soul sister/brother etc. But this girl is like a real soul sister to me. I've known her for the past 5 years. She's been by my side 24/7 she will always be there to cheer me up even though we have a lot of our Up & Downs. She may make me sad or cry but at the end of the day we will always be by each others side. She is really special to me and no matter what I will always have her back cause she's my partner in crime and her name is Devine.
